Raising Birds
On the farm, birds are kept in enclosed barns to protect them from bad weather, extreme temperatures, diseases, and predators. No cages are used and birds can move freely within the barn. Stocking density, the number of birds within the available space in the barn, is carefully calculated to comply with national & International standards and to ensure that all birds can easily move to access feed and water and to express normal behaviour.
Barns are equipped with specially designed equipment to deliver a balanced feed portion and fresh water to ensure the birds receive the correct nutritional requirements to meet the growth and production needs throughout their lives. The floor of a typical barn is covered with plant-based recyclable materials, such as wood shavings or rice hulls. The barns also use automatic equipment to provide lighting and ventilation to maintain a climate-controlled environment that is suitable for the bird’s age.
Feed and Living Conditions
Extended Housing Chickens' are raised under good living conditions and have a longer life. The spacious covered run occupies around 25% of the total surface area of the shed. The outdoor area offers not only fresh air, but also plenty of sunlight. This ensures a natural day and night rhythm.
This chicken has a more robust, tender and fuller taste because it is a slower-growing breed. Extensive Housing Chickens' receive 100% plant-based feed every day, comprising more than 70% grains.
We are protein producers to the global food system and must comply with an ‘integral chain management’ requirement for the entire process, from the breeding and hatchery stages to poultry farming, slaughtering and packaging, to storage and distribution.
We ensure all steps must comply with strict integral chain management standards.
